Box Score The Comets were able to score early against the Waldorf Warriors Saturday afternoon. After the Comets scored the Warriors didn't take long to answer back making the score 7-7.
The Comets weren't done yet, they drove down the field and Preston Hamlette scored yet again, with the extra point it brought the score up to 14-7. The Warriors would score twice more before half time, but would miss one of the extra points.
Both teams went into the locker rooms at half with a score of 14-20, Warriors.
After half time Samuel Huntley ran a pass for 58 yards for a touchdown bringing the Warriors lead to 14-27. The Warriors wouldn't stop there, they would score again before the end of the 3rd quarter.
The fourth quarter started with the Warriors on top 14-34. The Comets would drive down to the red zone but could not seem to seal the deal with a touchdown. The Warriors capitalized on the Comets mistakes and scores two more touchdowns in the final quarter of the game. The Warriors beat the Comets 14-48.
Offensively, Preston Hamlette ran for 73 yards rushing on 23 carriers with two touchdowns for the Comets. Hilton Joseph of the Warriors ran 12 yards rushing on 12 carriers scoring two touchdown. Samuel Huntley also had two touchdowns for the Warriors with 83 yards receiving.
Defensively, Jason Smith had a good game with 6 solo tackles and 4 assist for the Comets. For the Warriors Jeremiah Jackson had 4 solo tackles and 8 assist, as well as Moises Jauregui who had 3 solo tackles and 9 assist.
The Comets will be at home next Saturday hosting the University of Jamestown. Kickoff will take place at 1:00 PM.
