Mayville State got things started in the first inning when

Kiana Ishikawa to give the Comets an early 2-0 lead.
Viterbo responded by scoring one in the top of the second, the Comets were able to answer with one of their own. Viterbo University scored when
Shaye Kemball induced Sarah Throgmorton to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Mayville State then answered when Kemball singled on a 3-2 count in the bottom half of the inning, scoring
Megan Rabe and making things 3-1.
The V-Hawks tied things up in the top of the third, but the Comets went ahead for good with a run in the fourth inning when
Jolene Ruiz singled on a 0-1 count, scoring
Amanda Whitley. Kemball earned the win for Comets, allowing five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.
Kendyl Schine took the loss for Viterbo University. She allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out one and walking zero. Brooklyn Ottelien started the game for Viterbo University, she allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out two.

Haley Kravetz didn't allow a single run against Viterbo, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Comets to a 4-0 victory on Saturday

Harley Boulanger and Kravetz were able to score some insurance runs for Mayville State in the top of the seventh to make things 4-0.Â
A double by Taylor Vance in the third inning was the only positive for the V-Hawks in the second game of Saturday's double-header. Kravetz led the way for the Comets in seven innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking zero.
Caitlyn Kozik led things off on the hill for Viterbo University . She allowed six hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking zero.
Bailey Nordquist went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Comets in hits.
The Comets now sit at 4-0 overall and return to action tomorrow morning when they square off against Waldorf in another double-header. First pitch is at 9:00 AM.Â
