Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BELLEVUE, NE – Shaye Kemball delivered her second walk-off base hit in as many weeks for the Comets in a game one win over the Bellevue Bruins on Thursday afternoon. The sophomore from Winnipeg, Manitoba was able to get a base hit in the bottom of the 8th to score Kiana Ishikawa from second base and give the Comets a 3-2 victory.

Kemball was able to get the win in the circle for Mayville State as well. She went all eight innings, giving up one earned run and striking out nine.

AJ Tinoco got the Comets on the board right away in the first inning when she drove in Danyelle Gutierrez with a base hit to right field. Bellevue answered that with a run in the second when Maddie Siedlik scored on a Sayde Woten base hit through the middle of the MSU defense. Woten added another run in the fourth with a solo home run over the left field fence to give Bellevue a 2-1 lead.

Megan Rabe provided the spark in the fifth when she doubled to center field and brought in Bailey Nordquist to tie things up at two runs apiece.

Things were deadlocked until the bottom of the 8th. Kiana Ishikawa was able to get a base hit to lead things off in the inning, Danyelle Gutierrez laid down a nice sacrifice bunt to advance Ishiwaka to second. Then, Kemball stepped up and delivered in the clutch to give the Comets the win, 3-2.

Megan Rabe and Kiana Ishikawa each delivered two hits to lead the Comets in game one, and Kemball, Rabe, and AJ Tinoco each batted a run in for Mayville State in the win.

In game two on the day, the Comets faced off against Dickinson State. Mayville State was able to get the bats going for some runs late in the game to help them cruise to an 8-1 win over the Blue Hawks.

Mayville State got on the board first when Haley Kravetz singled in Jade Ledochowski on a base hit up the middle, making things 1-0 in the second inning. Both teams showed some strong pitching and defense until the Comets broke things open in the bottom of the fifth with five runs.

With the bases loaded for the Comets, Dickinson State hit Bailey Nordquist with a pitch, then walked Shaye Kemball to bring in a couple runs. AJ Tinoco was then able to deliver a base hit left to bring in two more runs. Harley Boulanger capped off the big inning with a double to center to bring in Tinoco to make things 6-0 in the fifth.

Dickinson State scored a run in the sixth and the Comets tacked on two more in the bottom half of the inning to give them the 8-1 win on Thursday.

AJ Tinoco led the Comets at the plate with three hits and three RBIs with a run scored. Jade Ledochowski followed that by going 2-for-4 with a run scored for Mayville State.
