Jordan Zrust Makes Mayville State Women's Basketball History

Mayville, N.D. - History was made in the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse on Tuesday, December 5th for Mayville State Women's Basketball. With 6:54 left in the second quarter against Minnesota-Morris, Jordan Zrust connected on a three pointer to hit 2000 points in her career. Zrust is the first Mayville State Women's Basketball player to do so.

In the four plus years that Jordan has played for the Comets, the team has an overall record of 92-29 and a 53-17 record in the NSAA.  Zrust is the all time leading scorer in Mayville State WBB history and will go down as maybe the most decorated player that put a jersey on for Mayville State Women's Basketball.

"Jordan deserves every accolade that she receives, as she has always approached the game with a relentless competitive effort and attitude that was built around being the very best that she could be both on and off the floor," said head coach Dennis Hutter.  "It has been a privilege and an honor to both coach and lead Jordan during her five year career here at Mayville State."

J. Zrust

Comet Athletics sat down with Jordan to discuss her time at Mayville State within the Women's Basketball program.

You beat the scoring record last year and now you've broken the 2000 points mark, what is your mindset when it comes to being competitive and never being satisfied?

[Zrust] "I've always been taught that there is always more than I can accomplish and to never settle for what I've done but for what more can I also accomplish. I am never satisfied for completing one thing while knowing there's something more I can do or something else I can achieve."

How has MSU WBB helped you be the best you and contributed or aided to your success?

[Zrust] "Mayville State Women's Basketball has helped my success here tremendously, I wouldn't have gotten what I got without my teammates believing in me, without my coaches pushing me even through the hard times. Without both of them I wouldn't have achieved those accolades. My teammates and coaches push myself and each other to be the best we can be and that we all believe in one another at the end of the day."

What advice would you give anyone trying to be a successful athlete in college?

[Zrust] "My advice would be to not give up, don't give up when things are getting tough or not going your way. Always believe in yourself, because you are there to play at the collegiate level for a reason and to always remember the player you are. The more work you put in the more the results will come. Nothing is given to you, you have to work for it."
