Helena, Mont. – The Frontier Conference held it's 2026 Volleyball Media Day on Tuesday. Scott Crawford and Rocky Erickson sat down with head coach Elora Passa and senior leaders Andrea Majchrzak & Tori Richter to discuss the upcoming season, growth of the program and the lessons learned from year one in the conference.
"I think last year was a lot of unknowns," Passa said. "Going into year two, getting comfortable with the travel, understanding the conference and the level that we're playing at is something we're really excited about."
The Comets faced increased travel demands during their first Frontier Conference season, including multiple trips to Montana. Passa said the team learned valuable lessons about balancing travel, academics and recovery while preparing for the end of the season.
Mayville State will return 17 players and welcome 16 newcomers, including 14 freshmen and two transfers, giving the Comets a roster of 33 student-athletes between varsity and junior varsity.
"Our JV gets lots of reps so we can help develop some of our underclassmen to step into those varsity roles as they grow in our program," Passa said.
Senior leadership will be key as the Comets continue building their culture. Richter and Majchrzak emphasized the importance of accountability, hard work and supporting one another on and off the court.
"We want to teach them all the things that we do at Mayville State, but just working hard no matter what we're doing," Majchrzak said.
Passa also highlighted the addition of former Dawson Community College players, who will add versatility and experience to the roster.
As the Comets prepare for their second season in the Frontier Conference, Passa believes the foundation of the program continues to grow.
"Mayville State is a school of personal service," Passa said. "It's a place where people go above and beyond for each other."
With returning leadership, new talent and a stronger understanding of the conference, the Comets are ready to continue building toward a successful 2026 season.
