Portland, N.D. - The Mayville State Comets Softball team hosted Dakota State Monday for game 3 and 4 of their NSAA series. Dakota State is able to take game one from the Comets, but Mayville State would come from behind late in game 4 as
Lindsey Tulla hits a grand slam walk-off for the W.
"This series was a good one for us. Saturday's wins were great, scoring 24 runs off of 30 hits;Â but being put in a position to have to climb back in games three and four taught us more than the blow out wins on Saturday," said head Coach
Jordan Olson.Â

Antarez Sierra reaching on an error
- Hughes would smoke a line drive single to centerfield loading the bases up for Mathiowetz
- With a 3-2 ball game and 1 out on the board, Mathiowetz gets drilled with a pitching, tying things up 3-3 in the bottom of the 7th
- Tulla comes to the plate and with bases loaded, she walks it off with a moon shot over right field giving the Comets a 7-3 winÂ
"Tulla really saw the ball well this weekend, she went 11-15 and had 8 RBIs," commented Olson. "Like is said earlier in the year, she wasn't seeing the ball the best early, but she is a player that will stay in my line up because of her consistent approach and this weekend she proved just how great of a hitter she is. But this weekend was a full team effort win, we had great showings out of all three pitchers, our defense made great plays and we had kids off the bench produce. Now, playing Valley this weekend will be big games for us, so we need to really use this momentum and be competitive Friday & Saturday."
The Comets will split a home and away series with Valley City State to round out their regular season play; taking on the Vikings in Valley City on Friday then hosting them on Saturday for their final home games of the season.
