Mayville, N.D. - New Mayville State Comets Volleyball head coach Elora Passa has announced the hiring of previous Comet volleyball standout, Payton Richter.

Richter, originally from Casselton, ND and Passa's former teammate, played five seasons for the Comets from 2019 until 2023. She was a setter and a defensive specialist where she tallied a career total of 1,055 digs and 423 assists. In the 2022 season, Richter accumulated over half of her career digs with 561 on the season. 

"We are excited to have coach Payton Richter part of Mayville State & Comet Athletics again," said Passa. "Payton played 5 seasons for comet volleyball and was part of the team that made it to the National Tournament in 2020-21. She brings a wealth of knowledge in both the setting and defensive position and will be a great addition for what we are looking for in our program. I am excited to get working with her [Richter] as I know she has a lot of passion and love for this university and program."
