Terres went 2 for 4 with the HR and four RBI, both Tulla and Avila added two hits and three RBI, Elliott finished with three hits and two runs to lead the Comets offense. Haines got her second win of the season with a scoreless seventh inning.
"Game one against S.W. Christian we were flat in all aspects, but we had some serious bounce back in game two. It was a back and forth ping pong match between us and Cottey and I loved that our kids kept trying to win pitches and at bats until the very last out of the 7th. Our approach at the plate was confident and we weren't second guessing pitches. Our first game started at 1pm and our last game ended around 10pm, so for us to stay focused and pull out the win was impressive," said head coach
Jordan Olson
Saturday Game 1 vs. Peru State (Neb.) W 7-4

"Overall the weekend was a good one. With
Sam Shumway out [knee], we have had to reconstruct our line up and have had some people step up that we needed to. It was nice to see our players find ways on base and take advantage of opposing teams mistakes. I really enjoyed the consistent fight these last three games. They approached each inning 0-0, looking to find ways to win pitches and create chaos for defenses. In the circle and defensively we were better this weekend," said Olson.
The sweep boosts the Comets record to 5-11. Mayville State will travel from Kansas to Arizona to compete in the Tucson Invitational this week. Due to travel issues, Monday's games have been cancelled and Tuesday's are TBD.Â
"Tucson will be no easy feat. We see some tough competition. We get rematches with Jamestown and No. 12 Northwestern, in which I expect us to perform at a higher level this go around," added Olson.
