Hot Bats Lift Comets Past College of Saint Mary Sunday

| Box Score 2 Sioux Center, Iowa - Mayville State Comet Softball was back in action for the third day in a row on Sunday. They played College of Saint Mary in an exhibition game followed by a countable game where they one both. 

In the top of the 1st inning, Antarez Sierra led things off with a double to left center. Lindsey Tulla would follow it up with a home run over the left field fence, her fourth of the season. 

In the 2nd, Antarez hit another double and Danica Hanson would drive her in with a single to left to extend the lead 3-0.

The Flames responded in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring on a double on two outs to cut their deficit to two. 

Things would be quiet for both sides until the 4th inning, when Haylie Padgett and Ella Janzen would get on base with back to back bunt singles. 

Hanson would hit a double to center field, plating her second run of the game and extending the score 4-1. Tulla would follow up with an RBI fielders choice, scoring Janzen.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Flames would turn up the heat. They score 4 runs on 4 hits tying the game.

Mayville State responded in the top of the 5th with back to back doubles by Nevaeh Stinson and Ryanne Bass to give the Comets the lead. They weren't done yet.

Padgett would triple to right center, scoring bass. Padgett would then steal home on a past ball by the catcher to give the Comets an 8-5 lead.

With 2 outs and runners at 1st and 2nd, Tulla doubled to left center, scoring another run to give the Comets a 9-5 security run.

Bailey Momberg held the Flames in the 5th, 6th & 7th, securing the W for the Comets. 

The Comets record 7 doubles, 1 triple and a home run in the game. All 9 batters that started the game recorded at least one hit. 

Mayville State will enjoy a 2 week break, before they head to Wichita, Kansas on March 6th & 7th to play four games in the Friends Tournament, followed by their spring break trip to Tucson Arizona. For full schedule details visit: https://msucomets.com/sports/softball/schedule
