Sioux Falls, S.D. - Mayville State University Comet Softball kick off their 2026 Frontier Conference campaign taking on the Dakota State Trojans at a neutral site in Sioux Falls. The Comets were able to score 29 runs between the four games and take 3 from the Troajns.
Game 1 - W 5-3
- The W would be powered behind a complete-game effort from Lacey Mathiowetz, who went all seven innings, allowed three runs, and struck out three while picking up her sixth win of the season
- The Comets built an early 2–0 lead in the second inning, then answered Dakota State's fifth-inning rally with key insurance runs before holding off a late Trojan push in the seventh.
- Mackenzie Fuxa led the offense with a 2-for-3 day, including a solo home run and two RBIs, while Haylie Padgett added two hits and Antarez Sierra drove in a run with an RBI double during a three-run fifth inning that gave Mayville State control of the game
Game 2 - W 14-4
- The Comets completed the day one sweep of the Trojans with a 14–4 five-inning run-rule victory, scoring 11 runs in the first two innings to take control early
- Mackenzie Fuxa powered the offense by going 3-for-4 with five RBIs, while Lindsey Tulla finished a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored; Lisa-Marie Cante also drove in three runs in the win
- Baileigh Momberg earned the complete-game win in the circle, allowing four runs over five innings, as Mayville State collected 15 hits and had six different players record at least one RBI
Game 3 L 4-7
- The Comets dropped a 7–4 decision to Dakota State University despite collecting eight hits and scoring first in the opening inning
- Lindsey Tulla paced the Comet offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Ella Janzen added two hits, scored twice, and stole two bases in the loss
- Dakota State took control in the third inning when they delivered a three-run home run, and the Trojans added insurance with solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings to hold off Mayville State's comeback attempt
Game 4 W 6-2
- Mayville State closed the series with a 6–2 win over Dakota State, scoring in four different innings and holding Dakota State to eight hits behind a complete game from Baileigh Momberg
- Madison Terres led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning, while Antarez Sierra scored twice and reached base three times
- Baileigh Momberg went all seven innings for the win, allowing just two runs and striking out one, while Mayville State added insurance in the seventh on an RBI single from Lisa-Marie Cante
